Seven Bar's 1-Year Anniversary Party + Mutiny Studios Poster Art Installation

Mutiny Studios has been working with Seven Bar since the very first show, last year on March 7. It's been a great year. We've promoted and/or produced 20 shows and with each Mutiny Studios event comes a great gig poster. So in honor of the anniversary, we will be installing a display of screen printed poster art, all designed by Merry Young and printed by us in our Carpinteria studio. A limited number of prints will be available for purchase. The installation will remain for 1 month. Stop by and check them out! You can also now order posters from our brand new online store.

Congratulations to Seven! They didn't just "make it through" their first year in business. They kicked it's ass. Here at Mutiny, we really value the way they have supported the arts. With fewer and fewer venues in Santa Barbara willing to host live music, Seven has stepped up and also taken chances on some bolder ideas.
When we said let's host burlesque, they said yes. When we said holiday variety show on a Saturday evening, they said yes. It's great to have that kind of partnership and trust in the entertainment world. We have things lined up already for after the anniversary too. Battlehooch will return again in March. And we will be introducing Nocona to Seven in April. Good things are afoot.

Three Shows In Three Weeks

Ok 2014, it's time to get the party rolling. First up, on Thursday, January 23 at Seven Bar & Kitchen is LA-based Young Creatures. We are excited to have them back after their great performance during the New Noise Festival 2013. Opening the show is Emily Wryn and The Lights Electric featuring some of our favorite musicians from nearby Lompoc. The night will be a nice blend of folk, rock, and indie pop.

Thursday, January 30th Nocona will play two sets at The Brewhouse, starting at 8:30. Nocona was born as a side project of the band Paladino. They have produced some great recordings already and are now out there performing to back up their work. They have an alt-country, desert rock vibe that is right up our alley here at Mutiny Studios. And the band is filled with killer musicians. Sure bet for a great night of music.

Friday, February 7th back at Seven Bar. We are hosting The Lower 48. They've come through town at least 2 times before and killed it every time. Mutiny Studios jumped on board after shaking our booties at their last show at Seven. We want to make sure folks in this town get these guys on their radar. They have some classic songwriting chops with elements of old school rock n roll, maybe a little Elvis Costello, very mod. Who doesn't like a band with a great look and the musicianship to back it up? The show is free to enter so save them extra bucks to pick up their record at the show. We got one!

Some great things are in the pipe for March as well. Whiskeyfest is a blip on the horizon but will be on us in no time. (quick Mutiny, get your Irish songs rehearsed...) We are also working with a touring tribute show from SF, an alt-country group out of LA, and some other touring bands from our friends up north. Tons of folks want to play SB. We will make sure to support the best we can find, if you keep coming out to the shows and letting us know you want us to continue doing what we do. Get to a show and enjoy life!

Happy New Year 2014!

Thank you for your support throughout the year. From Whiskeyfest to the New Noise Festival to our year end holiday events, we saw great crowds. No doubt that if you are a Santa Barbarian you need a lot of stamina to keep up with all the events and parties this town has to offer. You all deserve a pat on the back and a weekend or two of rest. We also met tons of folks visiting SB from around the world. We're lucky to draw in so many tourists to keep our venues and events filled with faces who are ready to party. We are announcing some new shows this week, so get your wind back and mark your calendars.

New Years Eve at Seven Bar & Kitchen was a blast. We hosted Fever Blister and her Hooray for Hollywood Burlesque Revue. Five dancers performed as some of the biggest stars from Hollywood's Golden Age. Mutiny Studios customized the house music all night with big band sounds from Count Basie and Glenn Miller, and the groovy sounds of 50's exotica and lounge from icons like Esquivel. The audience responded brilliantly to our advertisements of the theme, showing up in gorgeous vintage dresses and snazzy suits. So great to see people enjoying the culture we are passionate about. Great job by all the performers throughout the evening, Angie Cakes, Caramel Knowledge, Red Velvet, Cinnamon Britches, and our hostess Fever Blister. They are class acts and really brought the house down with their show. Watch interviews with the dancers on KEYT news.

2013 was Seven Bar's first year in business. What a great start! We have to thank them for being so supportive of live music and to artists in general, and for their extra efforts to accomodate Mutiny Studios' shows. They are doing an excellent job keeping our community vibrant and giving people an alternative to the State Street mobs. From our New Noise Festival showcases to the Holiday Spectacular and all of our smaller shows in-between, they have been excellent partners. Big hugs to the staff for treating us so well.

Next up for Mutiny? We bring Young Creatures back to Seven Bar on Thursday, January 23. The L.A.-based indie-rock band was paired with Battlehooch during the New Noise Festival in 2013 and was quickly able to win over a crowd of new faces. We loved their vibe. So now we're teaming them up with Emily Wryn and the Lights Electric out of Lompoc. A blend of folk and rock, these guys can go from sweet to intense very quickly. They feature Jacob Cole from Saint Anne's Place on the electric guitar, behind the voice of Emily Wryn. The show is free to enter.

This month's showcase at The Brewhouse features Nocona, a band formed from a group we worked with in 2012, Paladino. These guys and gals are exceptional musicians. Their sound is rooted in the desert rock vibe, a decidedly southwestern and country-infused blend of rock. Hope you are ready to be blown away. The show is on Thursday, January 30 at The Brewhouse. The band will play two sets from 8:30-10:30. Free as always.

Lots more to come in 2014. Get ready!
